Kate Zimmer is a contemporary abstract painter working mostly in acrylics with some elements of mixed media. She has a strong inner directive to always be evolving and her paintings reflect this in the different series she explores. Most of Kate’s work is purely abstract, but with an occasional loosely hinted at invented landscape. Through the use of color, composition and mark-making, her work is energetic and bold, or quiet and calming and celebrates an intuitive approach to each piece. “My paintings are the compilations of little bits and pieces of experienced life that filter out onto the canvas influenced by memories, feelings, emotions, experiences, reflections, and nature.”
Kate’s studio is based in Marin County, in the San Francisco Bay Area, just over the Golden Gate Bridge, in the Industrial Center Building (ICB) along the historic Sausalito waterfront. Her work has been seen in San Francisco Magazine and Architectural Digest; she has shown her work at the San Francisco Art Market; and was juried into the prestigious and highly competitive De Young Open as well as Marin MOCA. Kate is represented by Slate Contemporary Gallery in Oakland, California.
